Drop-in sessions for interested applicants and parents / carers at the Curve on 8th and 9th March as part of National Apprenticeship Week
Slough, 1st March 2017 – Slough Borough Council and its transactional services partner Arvato UK will invest in creating 25 new apprenticeships this year, as the partnership continues its commitment to help local young people get their foot on the career ladder.
The new opportunities will be open to young people from Slough aged between 16 and 18-years-old, and will see the successful candidates work towards a Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration and Customer Service during their year-long training. In addition, there will be the opportunity for 18 to 24-years-olds to complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Youth Work.
The joint scheme, now in its fifth year, will provide the new recruits with a wide range of experience through placements with the Council and Arvato, working across a number of functions from customer services and HR to IT and finance and accounting.
Since its foundation in September 2012, the joint apprenticeship scheme has helped more than 120 local young people into work, with 78% moving into full-time roles after completing their training.
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Slough Borough Council and Arvato will be holding drop-in sessions at the Curve, from 2.00pm – 7.00pm on Wednesday, 8th March and Thursday, 9th March. These sessions will provide interested applicants and parents or carers with information about the different apprenticeships and the range of opportunities on offer, as well as how to apply successfully.
The new apprenticeship vacancies will open from Friday 5th May to Thursday 1st June, and applicants will be invited to attend an assessment centre in late June. The successful candidates will start their 12-month apprenticeships on Monday 11th September.

The strength of the apprenticeship scheme contributed to Arvato being named in the UK Government’s annual Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer List, which recognises those organisations with the highest standards of excellence in employing apprentices.
