The Driver and Vehicles Standards Agency (DVSA) has become the latest UK government client to join Arvato’s shared service centre in Swansea, bolstering plans for local recruitment.
The organisation joins the Department for Transport and its agencies including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and the Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) as a client of the Sandringham Park-based operation.
The centre, which was taken over by Arvato in 2013 as part of a major government contract, is now delivering HR, payroll, finance and procurement services for 25,000 civil servants across the UK.
It currently employs more than 200 people and Arvato has recruited 25 full-time employees over the past 12 months across IT, customer services, project management, programme support and administration, to deliver the DVSA migration. A further 25 jobs are expected to be created before next spring.
Mathew Copp, Operations Director at Sandringham Park, Arvato UK, said: “Our Swansea centre is now providing a fully standardised, back-office service for the DfT and its executive agencies for the first time in the department’s history, helping civil servants to devote more time to meeting the needs of people up and down the country.”
“Our employees have shown fantastic commitment and hard work over the last year and we expect further local recruitment over the next six months. We’re proud that our Swansea operation has continued to work with the broader community, including Swansea University and Swansea City Council, to promote the region as a great place to do business.”
Gareth Llewellyn, Chief Executive of the DVSA, said: “Our transition into the Swansea centre has run smoothly over the last 12 months. The collaboration between DVSA and Arvato has been exemplary and central to the success of this transition. We look forward to reaping the benefits of this new way of working.”
