Four of our employees have scaled some of the tallest mountains in the UK to raise funds for charities close to their hearts.
Aqib Mahmood, Ghulam Mirza and Sahd Raja, Customer Service Advisors from our team in Slough, hiked to the top of Mount Snowdon on the 9th December in loving memory of their friend, Shazad Yaseen, who died in a car accident while carrying out humanitarian work.
The team raised £1,821 for the Shazad Yaseen Foundation, which was set up by his family and community volunteers to commemorate his life and provide those living in the most deprived areas of Africa and Asia with health centres, medical supplies, clean water and food packages.
Aqib said: “Shazad was a close friend and supporting his foundation is a great way to celebrate his life. We’re proud that the funds we’ve managed to raise will be going to causes that were important to him. Thank you to all those who donated.”
On the 26th August, Nirmal Singh, Debt and Welfare Rights Advisor for our partnership with Slough Borough Council, tackled the Three Peaks Challenge to support the charity Khalsa Aid.
Nirmal scaled Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike in 24 hours to raise more than £3,500 for the cause, which is dedicated to supporting flood victims in Malawi.
Nirmal said: “The Three Peaks Challenge is the most gruelling task I’ve ever participated in, but also one of the most rewarding. Descending two mountains in the black of night with just head torches was both exhilarating and scary, but it was all worth it to raise money for a cause I’m passionate about.”
Congratulations for accomplishing such significant challenges and raising a fantastic amount for charity!
