Insight from Debra Maxwell, CEO, CRM Solutions, Arvato UK & Ireland has been featured in City AM’s business supplement, Business Reporter. The article focuses on how automation will play a central role in helping the public sector tackle its efficiency challenges.
Debra explains that Arvato has used Robotics Process Automation (RPA) to deliver crucial back office efficiencies for Sefton Metropolitan Council, freeing up staff to focus on more complex and value-added tasks, such as handling citizen enquiries and eradicating fraud.
Together with delivering an increase in job satisfaction, the technology has automated a range of repetitive tasks in the Council’s revenues and benefits department, reducing Council Tax Direct Debit input times by 80 per cent and single person discount handling times by half.
Debra commented: “The public sector is no stranger to using technology to drive new efficiencies. The digital-by-default agenda, which has seen progress made in online service delivery, has made a significant difference, particularly across local government. But as gains made from improving the same ways of working become increasingly marginal, public sector leaders must look to more radical change.
“Given the RPA’s potential to deliver benefits across all government departments that deal with large numbers of repetitive processes, it’s clear the technology could provide the transformation the UK’s public sector has been looking for.”
