Our differences make us stronger

Be 100% you every day

Our ongoing commitment

Diversity and inclusion is, and always has been, extremely important to us. We believe that it’s our differences that make our organisation stronger and create an environment that fosters innovation and collaboration – helping us to confidently embrace the future.

That’s why ‘Be 100% You Every Day’ sits at the heart of our culture; celebrating and recognising what makes everybody unique and the different skills and personalities people can bring to their roles.

It powers our involvement with diversity days, activities to support Pride and the LGBTQ+ community and ensuring fair representation on our employee forums, and it’s why we’re proud to be a Disability Confident Committed Employer and improve our Gender Pay Gap year-on-year – with no median pay gap currently.

Our CEO, Debra Maxwell talks about why this is important to Arvato CRM Solutions:

“We have a diverse workforce across our business and we want to ensure that all of our employees’ voices are heard and that their aspirations are nurtured, no matter their age, gender, disability, ethnicity, sexuality or religion.

“We have a long-term strategy to meet this challenge, which is focused on actively engaging with our people to ensure we attract, develop and retain a diverse and talented workforce in a culture where they can grow and be themselves.”

Our ongoing areas of focus for diversity and inclusion are:

  • Professional development and mentoring opportunities
  • Anonymous employee surveys to gauge health and wellbeing and feedback on our culture
  • Inclusive policies
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Positive action to ensure our employee forums reflect and represent our diverse communities and keep the topic of diversity and inclusion on the agenda
  • Recruitment, promotion and retention guidelines
  • Equal access to benefits
  • MyVoice Teams channel and intranet page to encourage employees to post articles and share their stories and experiences

Creating gender equality

Addressing gender diversity is a key focus for our business.

Our current performance on gender pay is detailed in this link and it shows that our business is better than the national average. However, we acknowledge that the journey does not stop here. Tackling the gender pay gap is a long-term challenge and while it may take several years before our actions are truly reflected in the data, we’re working hard to identify and implement ways to attract and retain more women in our business, particularly at a senior level.

Our focus is not solely on gender pay but ensuring that all of our people are able to thrive in an environment that fosters inclusion and creates opportunities for our employees to move through their career in a way that works for them.

Empowering people with disabilities

We’re committed to improving employment opportunities for people with both physical and mental disabilities and we apply the principles of positive about disabilities and are a Disability Confident Committed Employer. As well as this, we continually evaluate our recruitment procedures to ensure they are inclusive and accessible to everyone and make reasonable adjustments to overcome any physical and non-physical barriers that may cause challenges for people to access opportunities, our offices and our services.

We also subscribe to a learning management system where all of our employees can access courses that inform and provide them with techniques and advice on how to maintain both positive physical and mental wellbeing.

Celebrating our multicultural diversity

We value our diverse workforce and continue to stand against racism and intolerance of any kind in our workplace. Our commitment to inclusion means that we’re focussed on making sure all ethnicities are fairly represented and have a voice to help shape strategic decisions and improve our business. That’s why we’re creating additional seats on The Big Debate forum with our CEO and HR Director for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and LGBTQ+ employees and are encouraging people to speak out confidentiality about their experiences at Arvato and share any suggestions to improve inclusion.

We’re also proud that we’ve been recognised for our diversity and inclusion at numerous awards including winning the ‘Employer of the Year – Finance, Legal and Professional Services’ at the Asian Apprentice Awards 2019, and being named as a finalist for both the ‘Diversity & Inclusion’ category at the All About School Leaver Awards 2020 and ‘Apprenticeship Diversity’ at the Annual Apprenticeship Conference (AAC) Awards 2020.

Standing with the LGBTQ+ community

Having pride in ourselves and being proud of those we share our lives with, is a vital part of positive wellbeing. We know that our employees can only thrive in an environment where discrimination, prejudice and oppression is stamped out. That’s why we celebrate Pride annually, have a focus on fostering a supportive environment, challenging unacceptable behaviour, and coming together to show our support for those who encounter inequality in their everyday lives for their sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
