We’re passionate about developing our people at all levels of our organisation, whether that’s through mentoring, coaching, training and development courses, or an apprenticeship.
The National Apprenticeship Service found that 86% of employers said that apprenticeships have helped them develop skills relevant to their organisation and 74% said that they’ve helped improve the quality of their product or service. We whole-heartedly believe this, which is why we invest in our scheme every year, as way to bring in and grow talent within our business and develop a motivated workforce with the skills for the future. It’s also important to us to give back to our local communities and this is just one of the ways we do, through supporting school leavers with youth employment.
This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re looking back at some of our apprentices’ and the programme’s achievements over the past year.
In 2021 alone, we enrolled 31 employees onto our various programmes, spanning right from Level 3 up to Level 5 in leadership and management – with 15 people finishing their courses to achieve 12 distinctions and three passes.
As well as this, Business Support and Customer Services Representative, Alun Hope who took home the accolade of ‘Apprentice/Newcomer of the Year’ at last year’s Welsh Contact Centre Awards. He won for being an exemplary role model, his strong work ethic and can-do attitude which were demonstrated in how he led changes to the working practices for our customers during the pandemic, as well as the training programme he facilitated.
Also, congratulations to Finance Assistant, Aleena Khan who was named named as a finalist for the National Apprenticeship Awards 2021. She was recognised by the judges for how she’s progressed all the way from Level 2 to Level 7 and for her hard work and commitment to staying up to date with the programme despite the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, we also donated our remaining apprenticeship levy fund to Rehability UK, a leading provider of community care and supported living, specialising in the provision of mental health, autism and learning disability care recovery pathways. This is allowing them to offer more apprenticeships to their own employees to achieve a qualification in the role that they enjoy, which will also improve the quality of their services in the longer term too.
