This summer, Arvato has partnered with the Kids Lunch Club 2018 initiative and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to support school children in the Swansea local community, through initiatives to provide free lunches and sponsoring the DVLA code challenge.
The Swansea site, realised that young school children were going hungry during the summer holidays and that there is a lack of food supply donations.
Together with the Swansea East MP, Carolyn Harris, employees have been inspired to take action through the Kids Lunch Club 2018 initiative. Over the school holiday period, our employees have donated over £500 towards the scheme, through fundraising events such as hot dog sales and darts tournaments, as well donated food.
Additionally the business is also encouraging youngsters to develop new skills by sponsoring the DVLA challenge for the second year running. This initiative comes from Arvato’s partnership with DVLA and aims to teach children aged 7-14 how to code.
The challenge allows interested pupils to develop their problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, and learn about computer programming in a fun and innovative way. Those taking part will also have a chance to win IT equipment for their school or community group to enhance their learning experiences.
The challenge is in support of DVLA who are working in association with the Regional Cyber Crime Unit, Emergency Services, Ministry of Defence and a number of other volunteer and charity organisations to promote and encourage STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) learning at more than 2000 Schools and Community Groups across Wales.
