Our employees in Swansea have been donating and collecting gifts this December to support the Mr. X appeal, which aims to bring joy into the lives of children in need at Christmas.
The Mr. X appeal, which is now in its 58th year, is a local initiative that focuses on buying a gift for children who are unlikely to receive presents during the festive period. The Mr. X team work alongside social services and child support agencies to identify disadvantaged children in need from Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and Carmarthenshire.
Our employees have donated enough presents to give 109 children from the local area a gift bag, which each includes a toy and chocolates. One employee donated a bike for a child, after picking their name out of the hat and reading that it was their wish in their letter to Father Christmas.
Mathew Copp, Director of Operations Central Government, Arvato UK & Ireland said: “I am so proud that the majority of our Swansea employees have got involved and generously donated to the Mr. X appeal. I’ve been overwhelmed by their kindness for this worthwhile cause, which means that many children will now have something to open on Christmas Day.”
The identity of Mr. X, Tom Bravin, remained a secret up until his death at the age of 92 in March 2016. The team behind the scheme aim to keep the appeal running and maintain the wishes of Mr Bravin by focusing on promoting the appeal and donating to more and more children each year.
