arvato’s experienced management team is led by Matthias Mierisch who has worked for Bertelsmann and arvato companies for more than 20 years. As well as leading the growth of the UK business, Matthias also heads up the company’s focus on global BPO.
In the UK, Matthias has successfully restructured arvato, developing a strong and stable business, which has grown from its 1,000-strong workforce in 2005, to today’s current total of over 3,000 employees. In the process, he has overseen a number of significant acquisitions and BPO contracts and helped guide arvato’s entry into the growing and increasingly important UK public sector outsourcing market.
On the global BPO front, Matthias established a new BPO platform for CRM and Finance & Accounting, encompassing more than 4,000 employees both on- and offshore. He also played a lead role in winning a more than $200m global outsourcing partnership with Microsoft, which is based around transformation - one of Matthias’s key areas of expertise. This partnership gained international industry recognition by winning ‘BPO Project of the Year’ at the 2012 European Outsourcing Association (EOA) Awards.
Prior to joining arvato, Matthias held the title of CEO and President at Bertelsmann’s BFS finance group, having worked his way up from managing director to vice president. He first joined Bertelsmann in 1988.
Matthias studied law and economics at the University of Bonn in Germany. He is married with two teenage children and he enjoys running.
